Entry #3 Mint
Your hand feels cool and smooth, giving away the refreshing delight that awaits within. A pleasant crinkling noise that sounds like paper rustling fills the air as you carefully grab the little metallic package and pop open the small lid.
You unwrap the tissue paper on the inside to reveal a tiny, round goodie with a chalky surface. Its color can range from a light shade resembling winter frost to a pure white that conveys a sense of cleanliness. The compact appearance carries a simple style that tempts you to indulge.
When you put the confection in your mouth, it slides across your tongue and lips with ease. It may slowly disintegrate with simplicity, leaving a path of flavor for your senses. Other times, it breaks up into little pieces with a pleasing bite, creating a satisfying crunch that resonates within your mouth.
The indulgence gradually reveals its flavor - a refreshing burst that awakens your senses. It provides a crisp, clean flavor that triggers or occasionally overloads your palette with its own aroma. The refreshing flavors swirl on your tongue and leave a lingering, stimulating impression.
The memory that comes to mind is one of my grandma. Her old, wrinkled hands reached into her leather bag and pulled out the small, tiny package. It was a delicacy offered in multitudes, and if the package was ever found empty, another was to fill its place. Her image was always clean; her perfect hair, simple make up, and pristine, matching clothes were always paired with the ironed seam down the center of her pant leg. The taste of the confection and her image matched and intertwined, leaving an indulging image in my mind for the rest of time.
Hi Alyssa. I loved how you talked about how mint reminded you of your grandma. My grandma always gave me sweets too. I also liked how you described the mint slowly dissolves in your mouth with ease. It makes me want to grab a mint right now.
ReplyDeletehey Alyssa, i like that you talked about you're grandma, i remember when i used to go to my grandma house and she would have a bowl of treats on the table and i always would get some, sometimes i would grave a hand full every time we were about to leave her house. i love the part where you said that It provides a crisp, clean flavor.
ReplyDeleteHey Alyssa You mentioned your grandmother, which I found interesting because both of my grandmothers used to spoil me at their homes. I particularly enjoyed your description of how a mint tastes in your mouth; it brought back memories of the times I used to buy mints during the holidays.
